How as this site created?

The site is hosted by Squarespace. The initial version of this site was created by Benjamin Breen with the assistance of a team of UCSC undergraduates in 2024-25, with support from the Humanities Institute, UCSC in spring 2024. As of December 2025, it is maintained by Benjamin Breen.

Large Language Models (Gemini 3, GPT-5) were used in the following ways during the creation of this site:

• Generating transcriptions of some audio and visual materials (all computer-generated transcripts were carefully checked by humans before posting)
